Neuroprotective effect of endophytic fungal antioxidant polyphenols on cerebral ischemic stroke-induced Albino rats; memory impairments, brain damage, and upregulation of metabolic proteins

Stroke is one of the leading causes mortality and disability throughout world. Recently, antioxidant therapies were attempted to reduce apoptotic cell death in cerebral ischemia animal model. To study neuroprotective properties polyphenol derived from fungal endophyte analyzed on experimental Albino rat. Polyphenols producing endophytic fungi was initially isolated seeds Moringa oleifera Lam. The endophytes cultured potato dextrose broth potent strain Simplicillium sp. ED7 produced maximum phenolic content (86.42 ± 5.3 mg GAE/g) than other fungi. extracted with solvent used for determination properties. Isoflurane induce stroke rat treated polyphenols showed reduced neurological deficits improved ischemic rats restored memory loss. increased dosage biosynthesis more enzymes lower dosages. Central artery occlusion evoked about 2.28-fold increase reactive oxygen species brain tissue generation decreased animal. different doses had decrease ROS amount sham group. elevated level cytochrome revealed mitochondrial damage induced control After 24 h reperfusion rat, upregulation total p65 phospho-p65 determined. present finding that polyphenl has a property regulate metabolic restore injury.
